Before Your Appointment

A little preparation goes a long way. Here is what to have ready for the best consultation experience.

1

Stable Internet Connection

For video consultations, you need a reliable internet connection (at least 2 Mbps). Wi-Fi is recommended over mobile data. If your connection is poor, you can switch to audio-only during the call.

2

Quiet, Private Space

Find a private, well-lit room where you can speak openly with your doctor. Avoid noisy environments and ensure good lighting so your doctor can see you clearly if needed.

3

Your Medical Information

Have the following ready: a list of current medications and dosages, any recent lab results or imaging reports, a list of your symptoms (when they started, what makes them better or worse), and your medical history summary.

4

Questions for Your Doctor

Write down any questions you want to ask. Consultations can feel fast, so having questions prepared ensures you cover everything important. No question is too small.

5

Basic Vitals (If Available)

If you have a blood pressure monitor, thermometer, or pulse oximeter at home, take readings before your appointment. This gives your doctor valuable data. Not required, but helpful.

During Your Consultation

Here is what a typical Heliodoc consultation looks like, whether you are connecting by video, audio, or chat.

Symptom Discussion

Your doctor will ask detailed questions about your symptoms — when they started, how often they occur, what triggers or relieves them, and how they affect your daily life. Be open and specific.

Medical History Review

Your doctor will review your health profile and ask about past medical conditions, surgeries, family history, allergies, and current medications. Update this before your visit for efficiency.

Virtual Examination

Depending on your condition, the doctor may ask you to show affected areas (skin, throat, etc.) on camera, check your range of motion, or observe your breathing pattern. This is standard and confidential.

Diagnosis and Discussion

Your doctor will explain their assessment, discuss possible diagnoses, and answer your questions. They will explain the reasoning behind their recommendations in terms you can understand.

Treatment Plan

Together with your doctor, you will agree on a treatment plan — medications, lifestyle changes, additional tests, or referrals. You have time to ask about alternatives, side effects, and what to expect.

After Your Consultation

Your care does not end when the call does. Here is what happens next.

Digital Prescription

If medication is prescribed, a digital prescription is sent directly to your chosen pharmacy. In supported countries, your pharmacy can fill it immediately. You can also view and download your prescription from your Heliodoc dashboard.

Lab Orders

If your doctor orders lab tests, you will receive a digital lab order with instructions. You can get tests done at Heliodoc partner labs, local facilities, or sometimes at home with mobile lab services. Results are uploaded directly to your health record.

Follow-Up Appointments

Your doctor will recommend a follow-up timeline if needed. You can book follow-up appointments directly from your dashboard, often at a reduced rate. Continuity of care matters — seeing the same doctor helps them track your progress.

Health Records

Every consultation, prescription, lab result, and diagnosis is stored securely in your Heliodoc health record. You can access it anytime, share it with other doctors, and download records as needed. Your complete medical history in one place.

Payment & Insurance

Heliodoc offers flexible, transparent payment options with no hidden fees.

Transparent Pricing

Consultation fees are displayed upfront before you book. Prices vary by country, specialty, and doctor experience. Most consultations range from $15-$50 USD equivalent. No hidden fees.

Payment Methods

Employer Plans

If your employer offers Heliodoc as a benefit, your consultations may be fully or partially covered. Ask your HR department for your Heliodoc corporate code or visit our Business page.

Refund Policy

If a doctor is unable to address your concern through telemedicine and recommends in-person care, you may be eligible for a refund. If technical issues prevent your consultation from taking place, you will receive a full refund or rescheduling credit.

Privacy & Security

Your health data is among the most sensitive information you have. Here is how we protect it.

End-to-End Encryption

All video, audio, and chat consultations are protected with end-to-end encryption. Your medical conversations cannot be accessed by anyone except you and your doctor — not even Heliodoc staff.

HIPAA & Data Protection Compliance

Heliodoc is built to meet HIPAA (US), GDPR (EU), and regional data protection standards. Your health data is processed in compliance with the strictest regulations applicable to your country.

Secure Data Storage

Your health records are stored on encrypted, SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure. Data is replicated across secure regions for reliability and never sold to third parties.

Access Control

Only you and your treating doctor can access your health records during an active consultation. You control who can view your records and can revoke access at any time.

Data Portability

You own your health data. You can export your complete health record, prescriptions, and lab results at any time in standard medical formats. You can also request data deletion per applicable privacy laws.

No. You can use Heliodoc directly in your web browser at heliodoc.com. We also offer mobile apps for iOS and Android for a more seamless experience, including push notifications for appointment reminders and new messages from your doctor.

How quickly can I see a doctor?

Many doctors have same-day availability. For urgent concerns, you can often book an appointment within 1-2 hours. For specific specialists, appointments are typically available within 24-48 hours. Our search feature shows real-time availability.

What if I need emergency care?

Heliodoc is not a replacement for emergency services. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency (chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, stroke symptoms), call your local emergency number immediately. Heliodoc is designed for non-emergency medical consultations.

Can Heliodoc doctors prescribe medication?

How are Heliodoc doctors verified?

Every doctor on Heliodoc goes through a rigorous verification process. We verify medical degrees, active medical licenses, board certifications, malpractice history, and professional references. Doctors must maintain active licensure to remain on the platform.

Can I see a doctor in a different country?

Doctors on Heliodoc are licensed to practice in specific countries. When you search for a doctor, you will see doctors licensed in your location. This ensures legal compliance and that your doctor understands local healthcare practices and formularies.

What if the doctor cannot help me online?

If your doctor determines that your condition requires in-person evaluation, imaging, procedures, or specialist care, they will clearly communicate this and provide a referral. You may be eligible for a refund in this scenario.
